Welcome to our workspace- an adaptable environment with sensory experience for learning at the core of the design.

  • Our space is carefully adapted to minimise sound transfer without having everyone isolated in an individual space. Acoustic adaptions in the ceiling and walls help dampen echo. Moveable screens are designed to block noise, and have the added advantage of providing more privacy for students who are not ready for or able to access open plan.

  • Benefitting from natural light from windows high enough to allow for privacy and lack of distraction, we also have fully adaptable lighting throughout that can not only be dimmed or brightened above each learning pod, but can also change tone, between warm yellow light or a daylight spectrum brightness.

  • The building is temperature controlled, with warmed blown air in winter and air conditioning in summer, so for young people who like to wear the same things everyday or who do not recognise temperature changes, our space limits their need to make changes to adapt to us- we can adapt for them.

  • Learning pods can be adapted to meet an individual’s need. Some prefer to have their own keyboard, mouse and headphones, and we have desktop mats which can help you feel your space is clean and personalised to your own needs. Several different seating options are available, with and without arms and with varying degrees of movement to help young people feel secure and well balanced in their posture, which can also aid their longevity for writing or typing. Each station come on the basic presumption of typing rather than handwriting, but we can adapt for those who prefer the traditional- one of our current students prefers fountain pen and paper. Space is always available for sensory breaks and rest breaks, including our sofas where you can cuddle up in a blanket with a hot chocolate if that is your choice of breather, and our larger movement space which is fabulous for a dance break on the big screen!
